Journalist Jewel receives death threats

Shafiqul Islam Jewel, a senior journalist of the daily Kalerkantho, has received death threats from unknown miscreants forpublishing reports over corruption of some former law makers.

The newsman told reporters that four unknown youths riding two motorcycle stopped his car (Dhaka Metro-Ga 26-2360) and threatened him to kills. At one stage, they tried to pick him up from the spot around 3:00pm in capital’s Natun
Bazar area on October 22.

Meanwhile, the miscreants told the journalist, “You hampered the image and carrier of our leaders publishing news against them. You damaged the party image. Taking
your life, we will take revenge.”

However, the miscreants fled the scene when the jaywalkers gathered the spot.

Later, becoming panicked, the journalist returned to his residence and filed a general diary in this regard on October 26.

Earlier, the journalist also received threats from unknown attackers around 8:00pm on September 5 in Bashundhara Residential area in Dhaka.
